Panic on the streets of London

What in the blue hell is actaully going on?

Watching the coverage of events in London at the moment (safely holed up at home), it's amazing to see what some people will do!

Now, let me say, I don't know all the facts. But then, I'm probably the sames as 99.9% of the people out there smashing through shop windows, torching cars, buses and what ever other stupidity pops into their tiny minds.

I have, and still have, no issue with the protest the happened in Tottenham at the weekend. Actually, I'm all for a community standing together when they feel they've been wronged. That's democracy. Unfortunately, the events have nullified any sympathy and point the original protest may have had.

Now, a couple of days later and the whole place has gone completely mental. As I type I can hear sirens in the distance, and it's all slightly surreal. The part I'm trying to work out is where the link is between an event effecting one community justifies carnage over the whole capital. Granted, there's the arguement against alleged execution style take downs by armed police, but I don't see how making a warzone is going to help.

What's possibly even more annoying is the stupidity of these people. How can anyone feel that after looting a shit load of goodies for your xbox, it's a good idea to firstly take a picture with it and then post it on the net. I seriously think some of these people should be removed from the gene pool!

I don't think I can really sum it up any better than this guy in Clapham Junction who (through bravery or stupidity) filmed it, and even talked to the people involved.

And then there's this woman in Hackney, who most people on my Facebook feed tend to agree with!

But as the one and only Simm Minogue says "Is it just a coincidence that all this happens just as 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes' comes out?" - a pretty good point I think!
