This week something amazing happened.

Ok, so in truth it's not amazing - not even significant. But Iron Maiden were finally knocked from the top of my All Time Last.fm chart, a position they'd held for pretty much ever!

And who was responsible for this? Green day.

I got their new album on Saturday, and must have listened to it 20 times since.

I must say, it's very like American Idiot in style, as well as my reaction to it. "Oh no, they still aren't the old skool Green Day" I thought.

But, just like with American Idiot, it's definately a grower. I can't stop listening to the damn thing!

There, so far, isn't a stand out track for me, no favourites - it's all really pretty good with an interesting blend of mellowness and trademark guitar thrashings, I'm pretty impressed with it.

Whether it'll hold up and still be on constant loop in a month or so will have to be seen. But one thing I do know, when your asked if you want to go see Green Day at the O2, your answer should be a definitive "yes" and not "What if their new album sucks?" - because it never will!
