View MAMP Pro sites across local network

I think MAMP Pro is a great tool for development if you don't want to go through having to set to vhosts for every project, but I found it annoying that I couldn't view the work on my iPad/iPhone for developing.

I googled, but with no luck. Then the answer popped into my head so I thought I'd share it with the world.

All you need to do is set a port on you site. I tend to create a secondary version point to the same place. So as an example, the main dev site could be philsbury.dev. Great, works locally and across the network on any machine if I change the hosts file.

Next, I can create a second host and set a port, like this:

A quick visit to 10.32.9.141:8050 from my iPad or iPhone and, hooray, cross platform local development!

Hope it helps others! =]

    Hello, a great tip
ut when I load the website, it doesn't show up the CSS and JS scripts properly. The path shows like http://port.dev/wp-content/themes...
    nd we need path http://10.32.9.141:8050/wp-content/themes...
ow to fix that do you know?

Hi Alex, You'd need to ensure that Wordpress is set up to use your port as the default address There are a couple of places where it is stored in the database in the settings. Siteurl is one I think so to get Wordpress to work nicely, those would need to be set as http://10.32.9.141:8050
